Theo Argitis is Ottawa bureau chief for Bloomberg News.

Argitis has covered Canadian economics and politics for more than a decade – including a dozen budgets, four elections, three prime ministers and three central bank governors. The Hill Times magazine has placed him on its list of Ottawa's 100 most influential and powerful people three years running.

A native of Montreal, Argitis graduated from McGill University in 1989 and holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto. He lectured at McGill before entering journalism in 1993.

He joined Bloomberg in 1999 after a three-year stint as managing editor for New Europe, a weekly magazine that covers emerging markets.
